Heather became interested in human well-being and happiness at a young age, and time only fueled her passion for helping others. Heather graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Hawaii Pacific University. She went on to receive a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology, specializing in School Counseling, thus obtaining her K-12 School Counseling license. During her graduate education, Heather worked in behavioral health hospitals servicing children and adults with mental health needs. Once graduated with her first Masters, Heather worked as a school counselor.
Heather later became an Autism school psychologist for the DOE, where she worked with students with severe behavior needs, and obtained her BCBA( Board Certified Behavior Analyst). During this time, Heather went back to school to obtain her second Master’s in Science in Clinical Psychology. She worked at Waianae Comprehensive Community Center serving in the public health department as a clinical psychology graduate student. She worked with adults with mental health needs, and assisted in getting her clients the best services and therapy to strive in society. Heather went back to the DOE after she graduated with her MS in Clinical Psychology, and worked with children with mental health and behavioral needs.
Heather went to go on to teach at University of Hawaii’s Applied Behavior Analysis Program for 2 years then went on the DOE State Department as an Educational Specialist, where she worked with State leaders, parent stakeholders, schools, and community partners to develop transition programs for students with disabilities.
Heather has worked in the community and schools for over 15 years. She is now venturing out into her own practice to serve the community independently as a licensed mental health counselor. Heather is passionate about helping others overcome anything in the way of enjoying the life we all deserve. She is dedicated to helping others tap into their innate and unbreakable inner resilience and courage, and teaching her clients how to self-advocate for themselves in living their best lives. While she likes kicking back in her garden, she also enjoys diving, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Heather utilizes many different therapeutic methodologies, however my main philosophy is solution focused therapy in a person centered, therapeutic environment.
